Within the framework of the X Energy Week of the Latin American Energy Organisation (OLADE), held in Chile, the Permanent Secretary of SELA, Ambassador Lesly David, met with the Executive Secretary of OLADE, Andrés Rebolledo, to discuss the joint work agenda in favour of energy integration in the region.
During the meeting, both authorities renewed their commitment to continued joint work in various international forums and meetings, as well as through joint publications, with the aim of promoting energy and electricity integration in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Permanent Secretary of SELA also participated in the presentation of the OLADE Awards for Energy Excellence, recognizing the most innovative projects committed to the rational and sustainable use of energy resources in the region.
During the X Energy Week, more than 60 panels, workshops and technical sessions were held, with the participation of energy ministers, international organisations, academic experts, business leaders and representatives of civil society. The topics covered included decarbonisation, energy transition, strategic mineral resources for the sector, electromobility, the development of green hydrogen and security of supply.
The Permanent Secretariat of SELA participated in the panels: “Energy transition and resource governance: a mining agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean,” as well as “The path to hydrogen by 2035”, where it spoke, alongside other specialists, about energy challenges and the region’s progress in the Sustainable Development Goals.

SELA and OLADE have signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of collaborating on a joint work agenda to promote cooperation in energy and socio-economic matters within the framework of their mandates and competences.
